Research hand-drawings for “Ibo: A Casa e o Tempo” by Júlio Carrilho

2001: Research hand-drawings for the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) in Maputo, Mozambique as part of book entitled “Ibo: A Casa e o Tempo” (“Ibo – The Home Throughout Time”, UEM, Maputo, 2005). These drawings were the result of a month-long internship with a research team with Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) in December 2001. I identified, measured and drew architectural column types of ruins and historical buildings in Ibo Island (Indian Ocean, Mozambique) as documentation for formal conservation research undertaken by UEM’s Faculty of Architecture and Physical Planning (FAPF).

About Maria GC Aragão

Architect, part-time lecturer, external examiner. I am interested in spaces of collective memory, the visual arts and architecture’s potential to enable change. I practice at the intersection between meaning, aesthetics and commerce. As an external examiner I look to architecture as an act of translation
