Oficina (latin officina, -ae) is the Portuguese word for workshop or atelier, commonly used to designate metal and carpentry workshops, or any other place/shop of traditional trades associated with craftsmanship, repairs and maintenance. Access the studio here.
In this blog, the category Oficina designates a series of projects (idea-things) that explore the representational power of ideas, objects and spaces that are not necessarily architectural projects.
Each project is an investigation into form or aesthetics, often both, in order to derive meanings or functions through other forms of construction, of making. Oficina thus fulfills a personal need to learn more about architecture, by moving beyond it and then returning to it with new insights: everything is a construct, and most constructs have spatial manifestations.
