Tropical take on Memphis

 136
Memphis goes tropical? Interesting to note a similar pastels colour scheme on the stairwell of this building, at the heart of what is increasingly becoming Maputo’s “golden mile”- Av. Julius Nyerere. The building is residential and called Rosas de Moçambique. It has 2 apartments per floor. with beautiful views towards the bay. Built in the 1970’s.

About Maria GC Aragão

Architect, part-time lecturer, external examiner. I am interested in spaces of collective memory, the visual arts and architecture’s potential to enable change. I practice at the intersection between meaning, aesthetics and commerce. As an external examiner I look to architecture as an act of translation
